5 Quick and Easy ‘New Financial Year’ Planning Tips!
How quickly time can come and go and what you didn’t have planned, probably didn’t happen! Plan to succeed this Financial Year, with these 5 easy tips -
- Update your Business Plan: All Businesses should have an up to date Business plan. This is your Business bible and should be reviewed and updated at least yearly. Don’t just keep doing the same thing year after year - Find the weak links and change what isn’t working in your business today!
- Review your Target Market: Your Business environment and Customer Base are constantly changing and if you aren’t changing too, you will sadly be left behind. Update your Target Market by doing some Market Research and Competition Analysis. This should be done yearly and documented in your Business Plan.
- Marketing Budget: Now that you have updated your Business goals and Target Market, you need to set your Marketing Budget for the year. Many Small businesses just take a guess without planning their Marketing first, and either get a big surprise at the end of the year, or end up doing no marketing because they didn’t have any spare money at the time… Don’t let another year slip away, get your Business brand out there and make this year your most successful yet!
- Marketing Plan and Content Schedule: Set aside a good 2 weeks for planning out each Promotion or Advertising piece for your Business. First Brainstorm to get all ideas on the table and then aim to smooth out those peaks and troughs experienced last Financial year, by dating them throughout the year. Ensure this matches your Marketing Budget and then break each campaign down into a Content Schedule. This will give you a much clearer picture of what needs to be done, how long it will take and who you need to assist you.
- Weekly Schedule: Break up your Week (and that of your Staff) to ensure that they have enough time to get everything done. Now that you have your Business and Marketing Goals in place, you now need to work out who and when all of this will be done… Sit down and set a Weekly Schedule for you and your Key Staff, and trial it for 4 weeks. If you haven’t completed your tasks, work out why and alter the plan accordingly. Once it is working well, sync up your Schedules ie. Iphone, Outlook, Gmail etc, and put in the hard work to achieve your Goals!!
